Dr. Jessica Wu says....



Fungus infections can make your toenails appear discolored, usually yellow or brown rather than black. The nail typically gets thick and crumbly, and the skin between the toes and on the bottoms of the feet can be scaly and itchy. Your dermatologist can test the nail for fungus and may recommend antifungal pills or a topical lacquer such as Penlac.
